From the moment they are accepted into a CEA program abroad through their return home, we invite students to cultivate and refine the eight workplace competencies NACE has identified:
To help students succeed week to week in their internships and encourage them to see how the work they are doing applies to future careers, we provide a structured, reflective learning environment in the Multicultural Workplace, a required seminar course that gives students strong support and offers opportunities for growth. During weekly seminar meetings, students process their internship experiences. They discuss how applying workplace competencies can strengthen their skills during the remainder of the term. The Multicultural Workplace seminar also includes critical theory, explores the workplace from global perspectives, and covers issues that students are likely to face. Ultimately,
we encourage students to tell a story of their professional experience that will be compelling to employers.
At CEA, we take time with each student to set expectations and explore the skills needed to succeed.
Working together, we:
Outline where proficiencies can be strengthened and developed during the placement process;
Search for and identify the right placement that will support the student's needs and requirements for professional success;
Provide students with the tools to maximize their personal, professional, and academic learning potential while abroad through an online pre-departure orientation and email series, and then;
Actively engage the student onsite and support their holistic learning and growth over the course of their program abroad.
CEA's personalized placement process ensures that internships align with student strengths.
We encourage students to develop the career readiness competencies they'll need as they transition to professional life. Our extensive network of business, non-profit, and non-governmental organization contacts around the world make it possible for us to arrange substantial placements that are meaningful for the student and have a real impact on the organization. Placements are available in English in all locations.
WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY
Looks Great on My Résumé I learned so much of the language and had some of the best experiences of my life. It opened doors for me to evaluate who I am and what I want. It looks great on a résumé.
