After having my whole college experience be during Covid I wanted a new experience. I am using this study abroad experience to find myself and the person I have always wanted to be.

Why did you choose your study/intern city?
I have always dreamed of coming to Italy because my family is from there. I chose Florence because I truly think it is the most beautiful city.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
I can not wait to travel to new cities and explore all of Europe. Everything is so easy to get to once here so I can not wait to see it all.

Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
I've always loved traveling and interacting with people from different cultures. In 2017 I went backpacking across nine different countries in Europe with my older sister. I absolutely fell in love with the rich history, architecture, and scenery of each city. Venice, Copenhagen, and the countrysides of Ireland and Portugal were definitely my favorite destinations. Ever since that trip, I made it my mission to study abroad because traveling is the one thing that truly excites me. I am nervous but enthusiastic about sharpening my language skills in Spain! It's definitely the experience of a lifetime!

Why did you choose your study/intern city?
I've been to Barcelona twice and visited a small Spanish beach town on the Costa Brava called Blanes. I highly recommend visiting as there are private coves and crystal clear water! As wonderful as those places were, I didn't truly feel like I experienced Spain because of their Catalan influences. I knew that Madrid would be a superior choice for my study abroad because I could better utilize my Spanish-speaking skills. Believe it or not, the Netflix shows "La Casa de Papel" and "Élite" also influenced my decision! I was absolutely drawn to Madrid.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
As mentioned, I've always loved different cultures. I am looking forward to making friends from all over! When my mom was in high school, an exchange student from Italy stayed with her, and to this day, they are still best friends. I will be seeking friendships like that. Additionally, I am also looking forward to taking weekend trips to Rome and Zurich. They've been on my bucket list for years and I have to go while I'm only a two-hour flight away... gotta love those cheap RyanAir flights! I've always said that if the US had a similar airline I'd be gone every weekend exploring new places :-)

Fun Fact (hobbies, interests, accomplishment, etc.)?
In high school, I participated in a photography club and some of my photos went on to win state. Throughout college though, my passion has declined. I love street style and landscape photography the most, and my inspiration often fails when it feels that I've seen all of my city already, hah. While in Madrid, I know that the city will reignite the creative spark in me. I'm excited to discover some new muses. Also during the peak of the pandemic in summer 2020, I lost my job as many others did too. To earn some extra cash, I started a neighborhood business selling charcuterie boards. They are a huge success! People can definitely tell that making boards isn't just a job for me; it's a creative outlet. I love taking inspiration from Spanish and Italian dishes and creating charcuterie boards with unique designs and holiday themes.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?

Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
The city I am from doesn't have much opportunity in the fashion industry. I really wanted to branch out and immerse myself in the fashion world as much as possible. I also wanted to connect with and learn from people with a different cultural background. I think the best way to appreciate the world is to go out and live in it.

Why did you choose your study/intern city?
I chose Paris as it is the fashion capital of the world. I wanted to constantly be inspired both in the classroom and on the streets. I have also been to Paris before, and like so many other people, I instantly fell in love with the city.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
I'm most excited to learn. I mean this in the traditional classroom sense, but I also mean through experience and meeting new people. I'm excited to be surrounded by such a rich culture that offers so much to experience and knowledge to be found.I am really looking forward to learning more about myself and where I fit into the world around me, as well as gaining a better understanding of what life is like outside of the US. I cannot wait to practice my French skills and make memories I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Fun Fact (hobbies, interests, accomplishment, etc.)?
I have an unusual interest, for someone my age, in history. Particularly World War 2. I also enjoy any sort of fashion history - if there is a fashion documentary, odds are I've seen it. I'm a really social person so my biggest hobby is simply chatting with people. However, I also do love to read and write and doodle. I would also say a big hobby of mine is shopping.

Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
I wanted to push myself past my comfort zone of the Midwest. I think it’s increasingly important to become a global citizen in this age of technology; and the best place to gain new perspectives is immersion in someone else’s culture. I’m also looking to gain confidence in traveling to places where I may not speak the same language, or eat the same food.

Why did you choose your study/intern city?
Prague is centrally located in Europe, so all of the other cities and countries I’m hoping to visit are only a few hours away via plane, train, or bus. Prague looks like it came straight out of a storybook, and I’m looking forward to learning the deep history surrounding this country.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?

I have always wanted to study abroad in college because I thought it would be such a unique opportunity to meet people and experience things that are not otherwise possible with the typical budget and time constraints of a college student. I wanted to meet people from all over the world and experience college life outside of the US, as well as see how cultural differences were reflected in my classes.

Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
I have been traveling around the world with my parents since I was two months old. My mum is from England and we always travel around Europe. However, I have never gotten the opportunity to live there myself for a long period of time and I finally am able to do so. My Mum has always said to me growing up "Have the time of your life" and I definitely will on my adventures studying abroad. I wanted to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live in another country and expand my cultural and professional understandings outside of the United States.

Why did you choose your study/intern city?
I have been saving my trip to Spain until I could study abroad and I have already been to many major/large cities in Europe. Therefore, I really wanted to immerse myself in a smaller city, experiencing the culture on a much more intimate level. I'm really excited to pick up the Spanish language again after taking it in high school by talking with locals. I'm even more excited to capture the beautiful city of Seville through my camera lens, continuing my studies and passion for photography.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
I'm really looking forward to exploring the hidden gems of Spain starting with Seville. And of course I'm really excited to make new friends from across the globe, continue my education in a different environment and culture and hopefully return back to the States being able to speak fluent Spanish.

Fun Fact (hobbies, interests, accomplishment, etc.)?
I've been dancing for over 15 years and continue to at UMass Amherst with Stage Crew Dance Company. A fun fact about me is that I danced at the Orange Bowl in Miami at the halftime show with the country band Little Big Town. Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
I chose to study abroad because I believe that in order to fully experience life, you need to step outside of what you've known your whole life. I have never been to Europe and I've always dreamed of going to Barcelona. From the minute I saw pictures of it, I was compelled. I felt like I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't do everything in my power to go! There's a certain type of growth that comes with not only moving to another country, but also by doing so on your own, without your friends and family. You are forced to become your own "teacher" and student, as you learn with each mistake you make- all the while teaching yourself that no matter what the challenge is you will figure it out!

Why did you choose your study/intern city?
I chose Barcelona because I was mesmerized by its art and architecture. I've always been interested in beautiful things and after looking at all my study abroad options, Barcelona stood out to me in a way that no other cities/countries did.

What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
I'm looking forward to being able to meet people from all over the world and to try new foods. I would love to meet people from other countries because it's such a unique experience that I've never been able to have because I've lived in the same state all my life and even when I went to school out of state, I hadn't really met international students. Also, I'm a very picky eater but I decided enough was enough and that I want to try new foods that way I can change that habit of mine!

Fun Fact (hobbies, interests, accomplishment, etc.)?
A fun fact about me is that I love dressing up and taking pictures! When you look good you feel good is a motto I live by. I love listening to music and going out with friends.
