The CGIS advisor will pass on the nomination to CEA CAPA for a final review.

Application Deadline: February 1st, 2025

Internship placements are limited and early application is encouraged.

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing
  • Good academic standing
  • Students from any U-M Ann Arbor school or college can apply. However, non-LSA students will need to work with their academic advisor to determine credit transfer.
  1. Visit the CGIS M-Compass Brochure and meet with CGIS advisor
  2. Choose a program location and number of credits
    • Please note that most locations have two credit options (i.e 3- vs 6-credit seminar)
  3. Complete the CGIS Application
    • Go to the CGIS M-Compass Brochure and click the APPLY NOW button
  4. After the CGIS application deadline, your CGIS advisor will nominate you to CEA CAPA. Nominated students will receive an email from CEA CAPA with instructions on how to access their CEA CAPA account. You will have 1-3 business days to access the account and then submit some application materials (e.g., CV/Resume, statement of interest, transcript).
    • Please DO NOT submit a CEA CAPA application prior to the CGIS deadline. If you create a CEA CAPA application at this stage, you would not be able to get an application fee waiver.
    • Refer to your M-Compass application and carefully read the guidelines provided under the CGIS: CEA CAPA Application Instructions.
    • Due to the short deadline to submit application materials, you are highly encouraged to start working on these materials prior to the February 1, 2025 deadline.

Note: Throughout the remainder of the semester and when you return, you will be required to submit additional documents and attend CGIS program events.

CGIS students may apply to any of the following locations:

Please note: If a student wishes to participate in CEA CAPA's "Study + Intern" programs, they must enroll as an independent student. Students who participate in a study abroad program as an "independent student" will not receive in-residence credit for their experience nor will they be eligible for the LSA International Internship Scholarship.
