About the Program

Program Description

Why choose when you can have both?  Make steady progress toward your academic degree AND gain valuable hands-on skills in an international internship in one of Central Europe's economic and cultural capitals. Incorporate a professional internship placement into your semester or summer study program and give your future career a boost. Internships in Prague encourage you to immerse into local culture while developing practical skills in fields such as marketing, management, journalism, communication, international relations, and more.  Take care of those degree requirements and build the foundations of your professional network all while gaining the international experience you’ve been seeking with a study + internship program in Prague. Learn more about the benefits of a CEA internship.

Program Structure

You'll enroll in an internship seminar course that includes an academic seminar and an internship placement, and choose 3-4 elective courses from Anglo-American University's full curriculum.

Your internship seminar meets for 21 seminar hours, and you'll spend a minimum of 120 placement hours at your internship placement. Together, your seminar and internship placement are worth 3 credits. Elective courses meet for 42 contact hours/3 credits. You may earn 12-15 credits (up to 210 contact hours).

Elective courses meet at various times, Monday-Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.

We strongly recommended that you apply as soon as possible. Internship positions are selective; students who demonstrate both professionalism and commitment throughout the process are most successful in securing placements.

The placement process involves three Skype or phone interviews: a screening interview with your site specialist, a job placement interview with your study center placement coordinator, and a final interview with your host site supervisor. The host site retains the final decision regarding placements, so it’s important that your interviews reflect your maturity, adaptability, curiosity, and commitment to both your career interests and the host organization. Upon successfully completing your study center placement coordinator interview, CEA guarantees you a placement based on the personal, professional, and cross-cultural goals reflected in your interview. All placements will be secured two weeks prior to arrival.

Upon placement, you’ll automatically be enrolled in your internship course.  Prior to departure, you will be asked to also select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Where You'll Study

Our partner, Anglo-American University, is Prague’s oldest private university. With a strong focus on international students, AAU offers more than 100 courses across its five schools. Courses are taught in English; you’ll attend class alongside local Czech and other international students from more than 50 countries.  AAU’s stunning campus is located in the 17th century Thurn-Taxis Palace in the central Mala Strana neighborhood, adjacent to the CEA Prague Office and within walking distance of the Charles Bridge and other notable historic sites.

Where You'll Stay

When in Prague, you can choose standard CEA housing—in an apartment shared with other CEA students—or arrange your own independent housing. Assignments are based on availability and confirmation date; we make every effort to match your housing requests, but we can’t guarantee housing preferences.
