Offered through our partner, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, you’ll take courses alongside local and other international students where you’ll actively participate in learning through hands-on activities, seminars and projects. Spanish language coursework is also available at all fluency levels. As a hybrid program with the CEA Barcelona Center you’ll be able to take electives that support your coursework at UPF, and stay on track for graduation.

CEA virtual courses are taught in English using an online Learning Management System. You are expected to be an active participant in online forums, in addition to completing your regular readings, videos and homework. You can expect a blend of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (at your own pace) learning approaches that provide individual attention and flexibility for your learning style. Engaging in your “own way” gives you an opportunity to showcase your engagement in any topic or assignment while being part of an online global learning community.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses and take an online language placement exam. If you choose to take a UPF language course, you'll take a language placement exam at UPF during orientation week. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home university pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Spain. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
The host institution has offered the following courses in the past. Please note that course listings may not be finalized until the start of the term; we’ll post an updated list when the host institution finalizes its offerings.
