This marine biology class deals with the structure and the functioning of a basic marine ecosystem. Students are first introduced to the abiotic factors regulating life underwater, then to the taxonomic and biological concepts of plankton and nekton. Finally, students will have to organize this information into a numerical model they will conceive and present. Two seminars will explore current hot topics in research with Pr. Ian Tibbets from UQ, Australia & Dr. Steeve Comeau from UWA, Australia The lab of this class focus on the "zooplankton" part (sampling at sea and identification at the laboratory).
