CEA is pleased to offer greater study abroad access for engineering and STEM students. We have increased our engineering offerings at our locations in Paris, Rome, Dublin, and London so that more engineering and STEM students can benefit from international learning and stay on track for graduation.
We know that many engineering and STEM majors share required foundational courses. With this in mind, we now have 2 engineering courses during the summer for the CEA Rome and CEA Paris Centers and 2 additional engineering courses during the Spring semester in Paris. In efforts to appeal to a broader range, we've modified the name of our Chemical Engineering program in Paris to Engineering so that the general appeal to engineering students and other STEM majors is clear. Here are quick links to live Paris and Rome syllabi:
To give students as many choices as possible, we are now offering semester engineering programs in Dublin through Dublin City University and in London through London South Bank University and the CEA London Center. This means CEA now has engineering offerings in English-speaking countries that complement our semester-long engineering program at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
We know studying abroad as an engineering or STEM major can pose challenges. We’ve carefully chosen overseas partner institutions to ensure students can find the courses they need. Whether engineering and STEM students want to study abroad for a summer or a semester, CEA can help them fulfill graduation requirements. For more information, see our Engineering Programs at CEA.
We continue to expand our offerings and rely on you to help us understand your needs. We invite you to share your feedback and discuss engineering courses and programs you would like to see with your CEA Regional Director.
Ever wonder what to look for when recommending internships? In this continuation of our CEA Internships Abroad series, we focus on knowing when internships best serve students.
All CEA Internships Abroad have a strong academic focus, include personalized placements primarily with small- to medium-sized businesses and organizations, and offer multiple options and price ranges—from 8-week summer sessions to full semester programs. While our internships have broad appeal, it is important to help students understand expectations and determine if students are a good fit.

Setting Students Up for Success
Ultimately, CEA wants students to thrive. CEA works hard to ensure students maximize their multicultural and professional learning and growth. And your discerning insights are critical to our success. The advice and direction you provide to your students are invaluable. By keeping these ideal intern qualities in mind and weighing risk factors, we can work together to find programs best suited to each student’s interests, goals, capabilities, skills, and disposition.
Check out the new Buenos Aires Summer 18 program. Note that the London internship program deadline is in February and is earlier than other programs. For all internship programs besides London, the Spring 18 deadline is October 15; the Summer 18 deadline is March 1.
We’ve made several website updates to better support our university partners and students and wanted to give you an overview of some great new tools. We have a new Syllabus Finder, have added more filter options to the Program Finder, have created an interactive Country Destination Map, have added new Student Experience pages for all programs, and will have new Studio Abroad online brochures coming soon.
We’re happy to let you know about our new Syllabus Finder, an online tool that will help you locate course syllabi quickly when advising and determining course equivalencies. With the Syllabus Finder, you’ll be able to:
In addition to the Syllabus Finder, we have added additional filters to the Program Finder to make searching for programs easier to use for students and advisors. We also made the interface more user-friendly. You can filter according to Program Type (study or internship), Subject Area, Term, Destination, and Price. By selecting “More Filters,” you can now sort according to Program Length, Language of Instruction, and Course Level.
As you advise, encourage students to explore different destinations with our Country Destination Map, which displays all locations in an iconographic and interactive interface and find more information on countries and cities. As you’ll see, the Country Destination Map displays the distance between cities within a county. Also, refer students to the new Student Experience pages associated with each program. To find these pages, select the fourth tab on program pages. For an example, check out this Liberal Arts & Sciences Student Experience page, which clarifies pricing and details housing and excursion options.
If you use Studio Abroad, be on the lookout for our new online brochures, which are coming soon! They will be easier to read, align with our website, provide updated links, be more user friendly, and contain more application information. We will be sure to send an update when our new brochure pages are available in the Studio Abroad Directory.
We hope you find these new tools and features helpful. As always, we appreciate your feedback.
