Build marketable skills while gaining résumé-boosting experience in a city that’s home to thousands of international companies. The Study + Internship program in Dublin allows you to make steady progress toward your academic degree while developing practical skills in fields such as marketing, management, finance, hospitality, and more. The program incorporates a professional internship placement into your semester or summer study program.  Our strong academic focus,  personalized placements dedicated to meaningful experiences that make a real impact, and multiple options and price ranges—from 8-week summer sessions to a full semester program - allow you to take care of those degree requirements and give your career a boost all while gaining the international experience you’ve been seeking. Learn more about the benefits of a CEA internship.

Program Structure

You'll enroll in an internship course and 3-4 elective courses through the CEA Dublin Center. You may also choose to enroll in 1 elective course at the International School of Business (ISB). Elective courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits per semester; you may earn a total of 15 credits (up to 225 contact hours).

Your internship seminar meets for 22 seminar hours and you'll spend 120 placement hours at your internship placement. Together, your seminar and internship placement are worth 3 credits. Your internship placement hours may take place Monday-Friday; the exact time of day and days of the week will be determined after you arrive. Your work schedule will be structured with limited flexibility. Courses meet twice a week, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.

We strongly recommended that you apply as soon as possible. Internship positions are selective; students who demonstrate both professionalism and commitment throughout the process are most successful in securing placements.

The placement process involves three Skype or phone interviews: a screening interview with your site specialist, a job placement interview with your study center placement coordinator, and a final interview with your host site supervisor. The host site retains the final decision regarding placements, so it’s important that your interviews reflect your maturity, adaptability, curiosity, and commitment to both your career interests and the host organization. Upon successfully completing your study center placement coordinator interview, CEA guarantees you a placement based on the personal, professional, and cross-cultural goals reflected in your interview. All placements will be secured two weeks prior to arrival.

Upon placement, you’ll automatically be enrolled in your internship course.  Prior to departure, you will be asked to also select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
