WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?

My favorite class was Tropical Birds of Costa Rica because while I already loved birds, the class taught me how to identify them by sight and sound which was really cool. Also, the birds in Costa Rica were beautiful and there were so many I've never seen before. We had field trips to go bird watching and I loved visiting La Selva Research Station. I also found my new favorite bird, the Montezuma Oropendola.

HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?

I lived in a homestay while abroad so I spent a lot of time interacting with my host family and their extended family, along with other locals in the neighborhood. A favorite spot other students and I frequented was a French bakery where we became very friendly with the owner and workers. Just walking around and going into stores, markets, and cafes helped me engage with locals and become more familiar with the culture.
