WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?

My favorite class abroad was Italian! There were only about 10 students in the class, so we all became really close, and my professor was truly the absolute best. She made every class so much fun, and we would even sing songs in Italian together. It never felt like just another class, and I actually looked forward to going and learning more of the language that I was using every day in Florence.

HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?

I tried to engage with the local community by using the Italian I was learning whenever I could, especially at restaurants and coffee shops. The workers could usually tell that I was a study abroad student trying my best, and they would joke around with me when I messed something up or struggled with a word. It always turned into a funny interaction and made practicing Italian much less intimidating. Those little everyday conversations were some of my favorite ways to feel more connected to Florence.
