I took a food and culture course while abroad which was my favorite. We learned all about the history of Italian food and went around the neighborhood trying local establishments. We also had wine, cheese, snack, and dessert tastings in class. I loved the Italian food, so this class was perfect for me.
HOW
DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
Living in the city betwixt other native Romans gave me a great sense of how the culture was. By going to grocery stores and local restaurants frequently, I built small relationships with the workers. I also had an Italian roommate named Francesco; he introduced us to a bunch of his friends and showed us all the hidden and cool places around the city.
