As the President/CEO of CIS Abroad, a role she held for eight years, Kris spearheaded a restructuring of multiple domestic and international teams to adapt to new business goals. She led the company through the pandemic, exceeded its pre-pandemic revenue and profit margins, expanded its reach to all 50 states, and grew its affiliate network of U.S. universities from 125 to over 300 partners. Prior to her CEO role, Kris developed and scaled the company’s first recruitment team, increasing enrollment by over 500%. Her dedication to organizational development and diversity is recognized by multiple awards, including the international "Charlene Allen Award for Inspirational Leadership and the state-wide "Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts."
An accomplished author, Kris co-wrote From Holocaust to Hope: Shores Beyond Shores, a memoir with Holocaust survivor and peace activist Dr. Irene Butter. She also authored Monique and the Mango Rains: Two Years with a Midwife in Mali, an account of her time as a Peace Corps Volunteer. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan and is trilingual in English, French, and Bambara. She is a founding board member of the Global Leadership League, and currently serves on the Board of the award-winning language school, the International Language Institute. Her two adult children studied abroad in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Nepal, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. She deeply believes in the transformational power of cultural exchange and international experiences.
