WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?

My favorite class gave me the opportunity to teach English to Spanish-speaking students at a local school each week. Teaching 10-year-olds allowed me to build friendships and connections that I did not realize I needed while I was abroad. It also gave me an even greater appreciation for Seville, especially seeing the abundance of families, community, and generational love that surrounded me. Being welcomed into that environment every week became one of the most meaningful and grounding parts of my experience.

HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?

I tried to engage with the local community by being intentional about meeting locals, asking questions, and learning from the people around me. I built relationships with my professors and made an effort to explore places outside of the typical recommendations and tourist areas. Some of my favorite experiences came from simply walking around Seville, trying local places, and becoming more familiar with the people and routines of the city. These experiences helped Seville begin to feel like a community I was a part of rather than just a place I was visiting.
