My favorite class abroad was Cultural Regions because I genuinely found the content interesting, but what made the class so special was the people I met. I made wonderful friends from all over the world and got to work with them throughout the semester. Hearing everyone’s different perspectives made the class much more interesting and was one of my favorite parts of studying abroad.

I made friends with people who were actually born and raised in Madrid, which helped me experience the city in a completely different way. I went to events with them, explored places I probably would not have found on my own, and got to see more of what everyday life in Madrid is actually like. Spending time with local friends also gave me a lot more chances to practice Spanish naturally. It made the experience feel a lot more personal and helped Madrid start to feel like home.
