Why did you choose to study or intern abroad?
I chose to study abroad because I've always had a passion for learning about different cultures, languages, and ways of life. I had the opportunity to study abroad in northern Spain when I was in high school a few years ago, and it really opened my eyes to what you learn when you live and try to integrate yourself in a culture or way of life instead of just being a tourist. I chose Seville because I wanted to improve my Spanish and discover an area of Spain that I had not been to yet.
What IS ONE NEW EXPERIENCE YOU'RE HOPING TO HAVE WHILE ABROAD?
I'm hoping to meet and have a lot of conversations with locals. I love to learn about different perspectives, so making friends with some locals from Seville is something I really hope to experience. Through this, I am also hoping to improve and become more confident in my Spanish.
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU'RE PASSIONATE AND EXCITED ABOUT?
I am super passionate about dance, travel (especially outdoors), and storytelling. One of my majors is dance; it has always fascinated me how much it can communicate ideas and stories of different cultures. In some ways, it can be a universal language.
What CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING while ABROAD?
I am most looking forward to a Flamenco History and Culture class because of my background in dance. I always think it is important to learn the history of any dance style that you practice, so I can't wait to look into how flamenco plays a big role in Sevillian culture and life.
