HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD? While I was abroad in Barcelona, I had the opportunity of interacting with lots of new people, many being neighbors, vendors, and other locals. I fortunately got to live in a very local area that was away from the tourist attractions. This was one of my favoirte parts of my experience because I got to see areas and meet people I never would have, since I probably wouldn't have visited that area had I not lived there. My block had many small locals business that I visited often and became very friendly with the people that worked there, and others that were also regulars. Whether it was a quick interaction or a longer conversation while I ate or shopped at the establishment, I always gained more insight into their daily lives and felt more at home!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY? My favorite class abroad was Analyzing and Exploring the City. Every class, we would get taken on a walk to a new area and learn about its importance in Barcelona's history. This not only got me more accustomed to Barcelona and comfortable in new areas but also educated me on how each area has its own significance in how it came to be and the people that live there.
