WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?

My favorite class was media creation for sound. This was my one class with Spanish locals and the subject matter was simply interesting to me, so I didn't take it to fulfill any of my major's requirements. It opened my eyes (and ears) to how crucial sound is to movies, documentaries, podcasts, and other forms of media. My favorite hands on activity that we did was record sounds outside with a boom op and sound recorder. It was such a nice change to work so closely with other students in groups compared to my other classes. If it wasn't for the group assignments, I would have never befriended so many locals and other international students in that class.

HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?

I had a class with a bunch of locals who were super sweet and welcoming! I got coffee with one of them at the end of my semester and learned even more about the standard of living in Spain. I was also fortunate enough to have family friends who lived in Madrid, so they introduced me to so many people, including those at restaurants they were regulars at.
