My favorite class while abroad was Fashion Sociology. I have always loved fashion, so I absolutely loved learning about Barcelona's unique fashion culture and history. We went on a field trip almost every week, and our professor took us to a variety of stores and locations throughout Barcelona that were significant to the city's fashion scene. We also visited the Design Museum of Barcelona several times, where we studied the rich history and evolution of fashion in Europe. Being able to learn about fashion while experiencing it firsthand throughout Barcelona made this class especially meaningful and memorable for me.
I engaged with the local community by visiting local spots and participating in activities popular among locals. For example, I frequently went to L'Ovella Negra, where I had some of my favorite nights watching FC Barcelona games with locals. Experiences like these allowed me to immerse myself in the culture beyond the typical tourist activities and connect with the community in a more meaningful way.
