Alumni Benefits

“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” Nelson Mandela
Welcome back CEA alumni! Thank you for going abroad with us – we hope you’ve returned with an enhanced resume, new friendships, unforgettable memories, and most importantly, a broader view of the world.
The best part about being an alumnus? Your study abroad journey doesn’t end. Explore re-entry resources and opportunities to connect with your alumni network as you transition from study abroad and learn ways to leverage your experience.

Leverage Study Abroad

Feeling a bit of reverse culture shock? Don’t worry, it’s completely normal. For many students, this can be more difficult than culture shock experienced when studying abroad. Here are some ways to help facilitate your re-entry process:

Make your résumé stand out: participate in an international internship while you study abroad! In today’s competitive job market, employers seek candidates that demonstrate additional skills, such as global and cross-cultural competencies. Not only does international experience show that you’re ready to dive into that job opportunity, it also demonstrates your understanding of globalization and issues that impact the global market. When you obtain an internship, you also enhance your professional network, prove that you’re capable of handling a job placement assignment, and gain work experience that employers value.

Global Career Development Certificate

Want to learn first-hand from an experienced mentor in your profession of interest? CEA’s Global Career Development Certificate (GCDC) matches you with a local mentor who’ll show you what it takes to achieve success in your ideal career path. Grab this opportunity to enhance your awareness of the skills required in your field of interest, learn about the impact of the global market, and expand your professional network.

Service Learning

Impact societal change in a service learning program. This hands-on opportunity offers much more than just a volunteer placement; you’ll test new theories and engage in research that enhances your understanding of relevant local issues. You’ll share your experiences with your peers and your instructor in a weekly seminar. And you’ll become an active part of efforts toward change. CEA’s service learning programs represent an ideal way to earn academic credit while giving back to the local community and positively impacting lives.

Study Abroad (Value of Getting a Job)

Did you know your study abroad experience gives you a competitive advantage? Stand out in a crowd of job-seekers by demonstrating your ability to understand global and cross-cultural competencies and the many factors that influence the global market.

Résumé Builder

Study abroad is an impressive addition to any résumé; many employers value this unique experience when they're searching for culturally and globally competent candidates. To prepare you for the job market, CEA offers Career Development Workshops. In this interactive workshop, we'll help you develop written narratives for future job interviews, enhance your cover letter, and build your résumé so it showcases the knowledge, skills and global and cross-cultural competencies you acquired during your study abroad experience.

Loving Every Minute
I loved every minute of it. The teachers were experts in their field and shared their experiences with the class. The classes were small and teachers got to know and took an interest in each student.
