Imagine being in the heart of one of the world’s largest economic centers, learning about the finance industry and the culture of a global city’s work environment, both in the classroom and at your internship site.

The Global Business Institute is a certificate program, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration (an AACSB accredited institution), offering you business-focused courses and an internship placement where you can personalize your experience to best fit your interests.

This program is ideal for business students. Previous academic experience in business is required.

Program Structure & Courses

The curriculum for the Global Business Institute requires either:
• 3 CAPA business courses, 1 CAPA elective course, and the CAPA Global Internship course; or
• 4 CAPA business courses and 1 CAPA elective course.

Elective and business courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. Overall, you may earn 15 credits. Global Business Institute courses meet Monday through Thursday.

Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

A Certificate of Study in Global Business and a transcript from the University of Pittsburgh is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
