DESCRIPTION

This programme will examine the theoretical and practical foundations of conflict and conflict management and will guide students through the exploration of conflict management and peacebuilding efforts in Africa and the world. The programme will refer to conflict literature and also explore how conflicts have influenced aspects of music, art and the political, economic and social contexts. While the primary focus will be on South Arica and Africa, the programme will also reflect on contemporary global issues.
The value of the programme is enhanced by practical visits and field trips to places of interest that complement the programme. It also includes a longer overnight field trip to a rural area where students have the opportunity to experience first-hand the history and local culture with knowledgeable hosts.
