Excursions

Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.

CEA CAPA offers courses in French language, political science, international relations, art history, and humanities. Classes are held at the Institut Américain Universitaire (IAU) or Aix-Marseille University.
Yes. Most courses are taught in English. French language classes are available at all levels for students who want to improve their fluency.
Yes. Credit transfer depends on each student’s home university and its academic policies. Students are responsible for confirming credit approval with their home institution before studying abroad, as transferability is determined by the home university, not by CEA CAPA.

Students can live in the student residences, apartments, studios, or homestays. Housing is located within walking distance or a short commute to class.
Yes. All CEA CAPA Aix-en-Provence housing options include WiFi and access to a washing machine. Dryers are not common abroad, so students should plan to hang dry their clothes, which is the standard practice in Europe.
Aix is a walkable city. Most students walk or bike, and local buses are also available for getting around town and nearby areas.

Application, Visas & Logistics

Yes, for programs over 90 days. CEA CAPA helps you complete the French visa process and provides the required documentation.
Students are encouraged to apply 6–9 months in advance to secure placement and allow sufficient time for housing arrangements and visa processing if applicable.
Students must provide a valid passport, student visa documents, program acceptance letter, proof of insurance, and housing confirmation when applying for a study abroad visa. CEA CAPA assists students with interpreting the TLS checklist to ensure all requirements are met.
