HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
I was able to engage with the local community while abroad by shopping and eating locally. I actually did extensive research on the best places to eat in the neighborhood I was staying in and became friends with the owner of the mini mart down the street from our apartment. I was also fortunate enough to participate in a pasta making class taught by an Italian native, who really broke down how Italians grow up eating a lot of carbs and less protein which is much different from the U.S. Additionally, I celebrated holiday's like St. Peter's Day to really immerse myself in the Italian culture and traditions.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite class while I was abroad was my business communications course. I loved how we were able to tailor the class and complete projects from a global perspective. Our main project was to choose an American company that we believe would benefit from integrating into the Italian market. At our presentation, our judges were Italian natives, some of which worked for CEA CAPA and others who were our guest speakers in previous weeks. It was just a great experience and being able to get feedback on why certain companies wouldn't fit the market or a better way to go about a certain piece of the presentation.
