Why did you choose to study or intern abroad?
I always knew I wanted to study abroad specifically in Paris because I knew it would be a transformative experience. My brother moved here with his wife six years ago and had a baby, and since visiting them and learning more about French culture, I knew it would be a fit for me during my junior year. Since I also go to college in a small town, I knew it would be refreshing as well to be in a culturally diverse city.
What IS ONE NEW EXPERIENCE YOU'RE HOPING TO HAVE WHILE ABROAD?
One new experience I am hoping to have while abroad is to become as fluent as possible in French. I have studied it briefly on my college campus, but by being immersed in the culture, it feels within reach to be able to communicate more effectively, and I think it could also be interesting for me to see how certain aspects of both cultures translate to each other.
What CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING while ABROAD?
I am most excited about the French Politics class because I have grown accustomed to US political structures, but it will be exciting to hear about something different and to learn about a whole new sector of history that I haven't explored so far.
WHAT IS SOMETHING you're passionate and excited about?
I am excited to meet others from schools across the US who are just as excited about study abroad as I am. It will be interesting to explore such a new place collectively. More specifically, others that will be in my classes studying business and political science as well.
