WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?

My favorite class abroad was my photography class. I have always loved taking pictures whenever I am doing something fun or making memories, so I thought it would be exciting to take a class where I could learn how to take better photos. I ended up learning so much about composition, lighting, and what makes a great picture. My favorite part was that many of our assignments involved taking photos outside of class, which encouraged me to slow down and really appreciate the city around me. Instead of simply walking through Seville, I found myself noticing the little details and beauty I may have otherwise overlooked. I am so grateful to my professor and this class for giving me a creative lens through which to appreciate Seville.

HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?

When I was in Seville, one of my priorities was to use my Spanish as much as possible when communicating with locals. I made an effort to speak Spanish in everyday situations, whether I was ordering at the coffee shop right down the street from my casa or doing laundry at the local laundromat. Sometimes the locals would realize I was not from Seville and switch to English, but they always appreciated that I was making an effort to communicate with them in Spanish. Even small conversations with people I met throughout my daily life helped me be more confident speaking Spanish.
