Often times, my friends and I would strike up conversations with anyone who seemed interested in talking to us, and it allowed us to gain a lot of insider insight into London when we were studying abroad there! From the staff at our accommodation to locals at a pub, it was such an immersive way to engage with the community while we were there. It truly made it seem like I was a true Londoner for a brief period of time.
I absolutely loved my international relations class while studying abroad in London (and now I am considering minoring in it!) because it taught me to look at different scenarios from completely different perspectives, which made me feel like I was gaining global and cultural awareness as I was taking the class. CEA CAPA did an amazing job finding our professor, who made our class engaging and challenging while we learned about different global scenarios. Also, our curriculum focused on how the UK reacted to crises, in contrast to the United States, which made me look at problems from a more global perspective than before taking that class and being abroad. I think it's the best thing that comes out of studying abroad.
