WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite class while studying abroad was "Language and Ideologies in Multilingual Spain." In this class, we learned about the multilingual environments and dynamics in Spain, and specifically in the region of Catalonia, which was incredibly interesting as I was not aware of these dynamics prior to this experience. This class involved a lot of fieldwork as we would analyze the linguistic landscapes of various neighborhoods in Barcelona through observing street signs, languages being spoken, attitudes towards certain languages, etc. By interacting with Barcelona residents and their environments, I gained an insightful understanding into the linguistic realities of Barcelona that allowed me to truly immerse myself and appreciate the culture and society around me.

HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
I engaged with the local community while abroad in Barcelona by visiting local shops and restaurants focused on serving resident communities. This allowed me to interact with locals and appreciate their culture and ways of life. Additionally, CEA CAPA excursions allowed my program and I to interact with local tour guides and historical experts, providing me with an in-depth knowledge and awareness I could not have gained otherwise.
