Art and Architecture in the Golden City, a class I took that went on frequent visits to different architectural sites and museums throughout Prague, was definitely my favorite class abroad. As an engineering major, I typically do not gravitate towards more artistic classes, so this class was a completely new experience for me. I was able to learn about the different eras of art and architecture across Europe, while seeing the works that remained from each of them, firsthand. I now appreciate and understand the works that I studied so much more, and I feel much more knowledgeable when it comes to general architecture and art techniques.
Living in Prague for two months allowed me to truly immerse myself in what I learned was a typical daily routine for many Czech residents. Like most locals, I used the city's public transportation almost every day and shopped at local grocery stores and mini-marts. I also regularly interacted with locals via CEA CAPA staff, city tours, and small talk with strangers from time to time. Despite the language barrier, I felt just as welcomed and respected as any local after becoming more familiar with the city.
