Why did you choose to study abroad?
College, for me, was always about pushing myself out of my comfort zone. And what better way to test my limits than to leave the familiarity of my home country to learn what life is like somewhere entirely new? The Stirling, Scotland program particularly intrigued me, for a few different reasons. I'm looking forward to the beauty of the sweeping hills and towering cliffs, learning about the long Scottish cultural legacy, and meeting lots of new people!
What IS ONE NEW EXPERIENCE YOU'RE HOPING TO HAVE WHILE ABROAD?
While I don’t have a specific experience in mind yet, I’m both excited and scared to travel to another country for the first time. I’ve never left the US, so I don’t know exactly what to expect- all part of the fun! While I’ve done my research, in truth I know very little about Scottish culture, lands, and people, and I’m really looking forward to filling in the gaps (even if I have to fly alone to do it!).
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU'RE PASSIONATE AND EXCITED ABOUT? When I’m not working on classwork or hanging out with friends and family, photography and drawing are the hobbies that occupy the most of my time. Some of my other great loves include astronomy, video games, movies, and nature of all kinds (even when it’s a little creepy-crawly!). I care very deeply about preserving the beautiful environment we live in, as well as supporting artists, promoting accessibility, and the wide variety of human rights issues that plague the modern world.
WHAT CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING ABROAD? Lately I’ve been listening to some fantastic audio dramas, so I’m very excited to take Audio Podcasting. I’m hoping that a course focused on producing quality podcast work will help me get valuable experience with writing and recording audio- it’ll be a wonderful addition to my portfolio, and I think I’m going to have a lot of fun doing it!
