HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
One way I engaged with the local community abroad was when I made some amazing friendships while I was in London, especially with international students from all over the world who were studying at various universities throughout the city. Since London is such a global and diverse place, this became one of the highlights of my time abroad. Two close friends I met were from Turkey, London, and Cyprus, studying at UCL and Queen Mary University. We met on a night out and were inseparable ever since. They introduced me to their cultures, helped me adapt to the London lifestyle, and showed me some of their favorite spots in the city. I’ll be meeting up with them I return to London this summer! Without my study abroad experience, I never would have had the chance to build these kinds of meaningful, lasting connections.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite class was definitely "London Museums". It was such a unique way to learn by getting to explore world-famous museums like Tate Modern and the V&A as part of the curriculum made the experience unforgettable. I had a really great professor for London Museums. She had a PhD in Art History and years of experience working in museums, which brought so much insight to our class. Instead of sitting in a traditional classroom, we took trips to museums all around London and learned directly from the exhibits. It was such a unique and engaging way to learn, and definitely one of the highlights of my semester.
