Universidad del Salvador (USAL) is one of Argentina’s most highly regarded institutions, rooted in Jesuit traditions dating back to its founding in 1958. Located in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires, the university combines a vibrant urban setting with a strong emphasis on personalized education.
USAL serves more than 20,000 students and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across diverse fields, including health sciences, business, communication studies, international relations, political science, literature, design, and more. Its academic offerings are supported by modern classrooms, administrative buildings, computer labs, libraries, and bookstores.
The university has a strong international focus, welcoming over 500 exchange students each year. International students benefit from support programs such as a buddy system that helps them connect with local peers and adjust to life in Buenos Aires.
Credit Transfer Information
Universidad del Salvador utilizes contact hours and the recommended U.S. credits listed on CEA CAPA's website reflect a conversion of these contact hours. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
Transcript Information
Students receive a transcript from Universidad del Salvador upon successful completion of the program. Transcript includes the number of contact hours per week and total number of contact hours per semester so US colleges/universities may calculate the appropriate number of US credits they choose to award their students.
Accreditation
The Universidad del Salvador (USAL) is recognized by the Argentine Ministry of Public Education as a degree-granting institution of higher learning. In addition, USAL's Business School is accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
Grading
Grade conversions from CEA CAPA partner institutions abroad to a US grading scale are determined in consultation with our School of Record and benchmarked with other peer institutions in the field.

Classroom and Information
- Faculty from Universidad del Salvador teach your language courses and electives.
- Periodic exams, homework assignments, and final exams will be administered.
- Attendance in all classes is mandatory and monitored by each professor.
- Teaching styles in Argentina may differ from those in the U.S. Be prepared to adapt to different classroom structures and coursework expectations.
- Class size ranges between 10 and 15 students for language courses and between 10 and 40 students for electives.
- You may attend class with local students, as well as international students from the U.S., Europe, Canada, and other parts of the world.

Program Structure & Courses
USAL offers a variety of courses for students at various Spanish levels: courses taught in English, courses taught in Spanish for international students and courses in Spanish with Argentine students. You may mix and match courses from various programs. Courses geared towards international students are listed on CEA CAPA's website, while integrated courses with locals can be accessed via USAL's course catalog below.
You'll enroll in 4-5 courses at USAL. Courses meet for 36-72 contact hours/2 - 5 credits. Most courses are 54 contact hours/3.5 credits. If you choose the Early Start semester option, you’ll enroll in an additional course that meets for 100 contact hours/6.5 credits. The intensive course covers Grammar, Conversation, Literature and Art & Culture topics prior to the start of the semester. You may earn up to 18 credits; if you choose the Early Start option, you may earn up to 24.5 credits.
Classes typically meet for 4 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The Early Start class meets Monday-Friday for 25 hours per week. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.
We’ll assess your Spanish language level before your program begins to ensure that you're in the right program for you. Final course registration takes place on-site. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for your coursework, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Argentina. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Your housing abroad is more than a place to sleep, it's a place to feel at home.
Health & Safety
Health and safety are a top priority when selecting and reviewing program housing. When evaluating housing, CEA CAPA considers several factors including the surrounding location, commute time to academic or internship settings, as well as the condition of the building exterior and interior, common areas, the individual housing unit, and other living spaces. CEA CAPA works to ensure that program housing meets established minimum health and safety guidelines and aligns with best practices in the field.

Regular cleaning of communal areas for programs longer than 4 weeks.
Wi-Fi
Reliable internet access is included in every housing option we offer.
Students Per Bedroom
Typically 1–2 students per bedroom, with a maximum of 3 per room.
Commute Time
Housing is located within 60 minutes of campus by foot or transportation.
Temperature Control
Cooling and heating appliances are provided (AC not always included).
Kitchen Access
A shared space with basic utensils, refrigerator, freezer, and a stove, oven, or microwave.
Laundry
Access to laundry is guaranteed onsite or within walking distance. Drying racks included.

Apartment - Shared Room
Live in an apartment located in one of the city's vibrant residential neighborhoods, with convenient access to public transportation, a variety of shops, and recreational space. You will share a bedroom with one other student, and share the apartment with 1 to 3 other students. A kitchenette is provided with basic utensils, as no meal plan is included. This option is ideal for independent students who want the flexibility and responsibility of apartment living. Towels, linens, and weekly cleaning are included. Laundromat available nearby.

Apartment - Private Room
Live in an apartment located in one of the city's vibrant residential neighborhoods, with convenient access to public transportation, a variety of shops, and recreational space. You will enjoy a private bedroom, and share the apartment with other students. A kitchenette is provided with basic utensils, as no meal plan is included. Excursions
Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
