Want to choose from a range of liberal arts and social sciences courses in subjects like business, communication, humanities, and social sciences? Learn more about Argentine culture through hands-on experiences? Hone your Spanish language skills? Designed for all levels of Spanish language ability, this versatile program allows you to choose electives, taught in English and Spanish, that mesh with your interests. Arrive two weeks early for the Early Start option and hone your Spanish proficiency before the semester starts. If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring the region’s history, culture, and politics in an interactive academic setting, then this program is for you.
Each semester, you’ll enroll in 1 language course and 3-4 elective courses. Courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. If you choose the Early Start option, you’ll enroll in an additional language course that meets for 45 contact hours/3 credits.
Semester students may earn a total of 12-15 credits (up to 225 contact hours); with the Early Start option, students may earn a total of up to 18 credits (up to 315 contact hours). Academic year students may earn a total of up to 30 credits (up to 450 contact hours); with the Early Start option, students may earn a total of up to 33 credits (up to 495 contact hours).
Classes meet 1-3 times per week, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays. The Early Start language course meets Monday-Thursday for a total of 22.5 hours per week.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses and take a language placement exam. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Argentina. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

When you study abroad in Buenos Aires, you can choose CEA housing or arrange your own independent housing. CEA housing assignments are based on availability and confirmation date; we make every effort to match your housing requests, but we can’t guarantee housing preferences.
