About the Program
This versatile program allows you to choose courses from a range of subject areas, including biology, art history, economics, chemistry, communications, finance, and more. Students take courses through the CEA CAPA Seville Center, the University of Seville (USS) or Pablo de Olavide University (UPO). Classes are taught in English and Spanish for all levels of Spanish language ability. Attending class at our partner institutions alongside other international students allows you to explore diverse academic topics while engaging in local student culture on campus - all contributing to an integrated experience. Diverse course offerings allow you to earn credits toward your major and graduation requirements.

University of Seville
Founded in 1505, today the University of Seville (USS) is one of the largest institutions in Spain. You’ll share the hallways and university facilities with Spanish students of the Facultad de Filología and the Facultad de Geografía e Historia (Schools of Philology, Geography and History), located in an 18th century building that originally housed the Royal Tobacco Factory and served as the backdrop for the opera Carmen. With such a long and prestigious history, it’s not surprising that the University of Seville is so well-regarded.
More than 70,000 students attend the University of Seville, with an international student population of about 4,000. You’ll take courses through Cursos Concertados con Universidades Extranjeras, which offers two tracks of multi-disciplined courses – one track in English and another in Spanish across content areas. Although you will be attending class with other international and US American students, you will glimpse Spanish university student life when attending classes in these two very popular departments.
Credit Transfer Information
CEA CAPA credit hour recommendations are based on the following conversion: 15 contact hours equals 1 U.S. credit. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Students receive a transcript from University of Seville upon successful completion of the program. The transcript reflects contact hours.
Accreditation
The University of Seville is recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education as a degree-granting institution of higher learning. Its degrees are all adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) standards.
Grading
Grade conversions from CEA CAPA partner institutions abroad to a US grading scale are determined in consultation with our School of Record and benchmarked with other peer institutions in the field.
Please note that CEA CAPA can only recommend grade conversions to students’ home institutions—it is ultimately at the discretion of the home institution to convert grades from abroad to students’ academic records.

The CEA CAPA Seville Center is in the historic Santa Cruz neighborhood, offers a study abroad experience in a vibrant neighborhood with rich cultural significance. Located next to the picturesque Jardines de Murillo, a lush historical park, this charming setting offers you an inspiring space for learning and connection. Courses offered in both Spanish and English, allow you to pursue several disciplines including history, sociology, art, business, and more. Faculty integrate the entire city of Seville into the curriculum, with visits to iconic landmarks like the world’s largest Gothic cathedral and the oldest royal palace in Europe, Real Alcázar. Accreditation
Courses taught at the CEA CAPA Seville Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA CAPA Seville Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The agreement between CEA CAPA and UNH follows the highest standards of good practice in education abroad and satisfies the rigorous requirements of the University's institutional accreditor, making credits earned at the CEA CAPA Seville Center easily transferable to US-accredited institutions. Grading
Professors at the CEA CAPA Seville Center will carefully evaluate your work and progress throughout their academic session. When calculating the final grade, instructors consider written and oral exercises, homework assignments, attendance, classroom participation, and exam performance.

Classroom and Information
- Classes are taught by international faculty selected by CEA CAPA and approved by UNH.
- Most faculty are bilingual (Spanish/English) and represent diverse backgrounds.
- Periodic exams, homework assignments, and final exams will be administered.
- Attendance in all classes is mandatory and monitored by each professor.
- You’ll attend class with other CEA CAPA students, not with native Spanish students.
- Teaching styles in Spain may differ from those in the U.S. Be prepared to adapt to local classroom structures and coursework expectations.
- The maximum class size for language courses is 15 students and 25 students for elective courses. These small class sizes mean personalized attention from instructors.

Enroll in 1 CEA CAPA core course and 1-3 CEA CAPA courses. You'll also choose 1-2 courses from either the University of Seville (USS) or Pablo de Olavide University (UPO).
CEA CAPA and USS courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. UPO courses meet for 15-75 contact hours/1-5 credits. You'll earn 12-15 credits (up to 225 contact hours).
Classes meet on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays. Students taking courses at UPO should expect a larger scheduling and financial commitment due to the commute to the UPO campus. In addition, UPO students are required to be flexible as course availability is subject to change. Please plan to discuss this further with an Admission Counselor or your assigned Student Advisor upon submitting your application.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses and take a language placement exam. If you choose to take a Spanish language or elective course at our partner institution, you will take another language placement exam on-site. Your final language level may be adjusted on-site. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Your housing abroad is more than a place to sleep, it's a place to feel at home.
Health & Safety
Health and safety are a top priority when selecting and reviewing program housing. When evaluating housing, CEA CAPA considers several factors including the surrounding location, commute time to academic or internship settings, as well as the condition of the building exterior and interior, common areas, the individual housing unit, and other living spaces. CEA CAPA works to ensure that program housing meets established minimum health and safety guidelines and aligns with best practices in the field.

Regular cleaning of communal areas for programs longer than 4 weeks.

Reliable internet access is included in every housing option we offer.
Students Per Bedroom
Typically 1–2 students per bedroom, with a maximum of 3 per room.
Commute Time
Housing is located within 60 minutes of campus by foot or transportation.
Temperature Control
Cooling and heating appliances are provided (AC not always included).
Kitchen Access
A shared space with basic utensils, refrigerator, freezer, and a stove, oven, or microwave.
Laundry
Access to laundry is guaranteed onsite or within walking distance. Drying racks included.

The Seville Signature - Casa de Sevilla
Discover a truly unique way to live with the Sevilla Signature - Casa de Sevilla, where the freedom of apartment living meets the warmth of a local homestay. In this setting, you and your fellow students share a private apartment, while a dedicated "host mom" visits 6 days a week to prepare delicious, home-cooked meals and offer cultural guidance. It’s the perfect built-in support system for students who want to live like a local and enjoy traditional cuisine without the responsibility of cooking. You’ll share a room and common areas with other students, making this the ideal choice for those seeking a close-knit community and a deep connection to the local culture. Homestay - Shared Room
Experience Spanish family life with our extraordinary local host parents. You will share a bedroom with one other student, and you may share the homestay with up to 3 other students, fostering a unique group experience within a local setting. Homestay includes 3 meals per day, Monday - Sunday, as well as laundry and cleaning service. This option is ideal for students eager to fully delve into Spanish culture, experiencing local customs, traditions, and cuisine firsthand. Host family profiles vary widely.

Excursions
Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
