This subject examines Indigenous politics and histories throughout the world. Through comparative case studies, students investigate and compare the agency of Indigenous peoples in contemporary debates, and how different Indigenous peoples are transforming the way society operates in respect to climate change policy, land development and cultural knowledge. Students are introduced to comparative methods and contested ways of seeing the world and they explore how Indigenous peoples have resisted colonialism and fought for rights, recognition and sovereignt
