DESCRIPTION

Climate change is one of the world's greatest challenges. Public debate has often focused on concepts such as Net Zero and Green Financing, but the ethical dimension is equally critical. This course examines how ethical reasoning shapes climate change decisions, with emphasis on questions such as: Who bears the cost of mitigation and adaptation? What are the moral limits of market solutions and geoengineering? How should population ethics inform policy? How do people evaluate displacement, resettlement, and climate litigation? Students develop a nuanced understanding of key ethical frameworks and apply them to real-world cases and policy debates.

In addition to theoretical study, students will analyze contemporary UN climate negotiations, examine landmark climate litigation cases, and participate in simulations of policy-making scenarios. This applied approach ensures graduates can connect philosophical reasoning to practical climate action.
