DESCRIPTION

This intermediate-level course is designed for students with prior Spanish experience who want to develop language skills for healthcare settings. Beyond grammar and vocabulary, the course emphasizes cultural competence and practical communication. Students will learn essential medical terminology, explore health-related topics, and practice real-world interactions common in healthcare environments.

Through reading, speaking, writing, and listening activities, students will strengthen proficiency while gaining insight into Spanish healthcare culture compared to the U.S. By the end of the course, students will be able to engage in complex conversations - expressing opinions, emotions, and arguments - within medical contexts, including patient-provider interactions, healing traditions, and global health perspectives.
