DESCRIPTION
This is a course for students who are interested in Contemporary Italian literature, culture and language. The program will cover the most important Italian authors from the Unification of Italy to present time. Particular attention will be given to a few poets and writers who were born or who have lived in Florence, providing students with a deeper experience and understanding of those authors and their work. Through different readings students will have the chance to analyze language, politics, ideology, art and life in general throughout this historical period. Students will read literary texts, poetry and prose, presented in English translation, but constantly compared with the original Italian version.
