DESCRIPTION
Analysis of the forces that shaped the modern industrial nation after the Civil War which have resulted in the emergence of the United States as a world power. This course will provide a general overview of U.S. History from approximately 1865. The class will address the broad intellectual, political, economic, and cultural issues of the modern United States. There will be lectures, class discussions, reading assignments, quizzes, one short essay, and two examinations.
