DESCRIPTION

This course surveys the major fields, foundational concepts, and methods of psychology. Students will gain insight into the historical roots of the discipline, from early philosophical debates to the rise of psychology as a scientific field. They will also learn about a variety of research methodologies that underpin psychological inquiry. Core topics include perception, cognition, memory, motivation, emotion, and consciousness, as well as their development across the lifespan. Students will practice critical evaluation of classic experiments, contemporary studies, and ethical considerations.
