DESCRIPTION
Digital Media is a broad multidisciplinary field that includes artists, designers, scientists, programmers, managers and many more innovative team combinations. This course will focus on the conceptual role that an artist or creative director has in the Digital Media field. Students will work on four creative projects. A film-animation, a web-portfolio, a digital painting project and conclude with a final installation.
The context for the course projects fits within the universities strong trend to explore both art and animation as well sustainability, which in this course focuses on the ecological philosophy as the political force which Costa Rica may have to offer to the international dialogue for contemporary art. Field trips will immerse student to explore the cultural and biological environments (weaknesses and vulnerabilities) of the country to allow the student to use this as inspiration for the conceptual ideas presented to the class.
Throughout the course many team management skills will be practiced such as daily icebreakers, ideation-brainstorming, team leading and following, pitch presentations, sketching and fast prototyping.
