Landscape is a polyvalent word related to ecology, urbanism, architecture, geography, territorial studies, gardening and a wide range of different issues and situations. But, what is landscape? And why do we need to develop a specific subject to address this topic? It may be consider that the learning pathway to become an architect must comprise a holistic understanding of the world, both in a large and in a detailed scale. This learning process implies to look for the best strategy to draw cross-cutting connections between layers of information through proper assessment methodology, with the goal to provide keys to support project decision-making. General issues in this subject are related with the modern concept of landscape in connection with other aspects of urban and territorial planning.
