DESCRIPTION

This course utilizes a family systems framework to examine family processes, family communication, generations, emotions, rules, decision making, power and rituals across the lifespan. Through class lecture, discussion, and exercises students will examine processes that influence family functioning and development. The main outcome of this class will be an increased comprehension of the complexity of families. Understanding one?s own family will provide the foundation for understanding families more generally.
