DESCRIPTION

This course examines how firms develop and implement strategies to compete successfully in dynamic and competitive markets. Students learn how organizations analyze their external environment, evaluate internal capabilities, and design strategies that create sustainable competitive advantage. The course integrates traditional strategy frameworks with contemporary strategic thinking, including data driven strategy, competitive positioning, and strategy for social progress. Students will explore how companies increasingly rely on data analytics and evidence-based decision making to guide strategic choices. In addition, the course discusses the role of business in addressing social and economic challenges. Students will analyze how firms can create both economic value and social impact through strategic initiatives. Learning takes place through case studies, class discussions, strategic simulations, and practical exercises. The simulation component allows students to make strategic decisions in a competitive environment and observe how different strategies affect firm performance. By the end of the course, students will develop the ability to analyze industries, interpret data for strategic decisions, and formulate strategies for firms operating in competitive and socially complex markets.
