DESCRIPTION
Global environmental health is concerned with the biological and physical influences on human health at a global scale. In this course students will examine how local-global processes converge on community health issues such as the impact of climate change on water and food security, the structural factors and stakeholders that influence environmental health policies, and vector-borne diseases in tropical environments. This course will also review the ways in which humans mitigate their environmental risks for disease and poor health. A unique aspect to this course is that students will be introduced to and gain hands-on experience with standard tools of measurement (like NEMS and SOPARC) common to the field environmental public health.
