DESCRIPTION
This course introduces Sensarticulate Methods, an innovative framework developed within interdisciplinary research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The approach expands qualitative research by exploring forms of knowledge that emerge through sensory perception, artistic practice, and embodied engagement. Students will investigate how research data can be generated through creative and multi-sensory practices and how such material can be documented, interpreted, and communicated within qualitative research. Through a series of thematic modules, the course addresses topics such as sensory ethnography, the researcher's body and positionality, arts-based inquiry, and the interpretation of non-verbal and multi-modal data. By the end of the course, students will develop the ability to design and facilitate arts- and sensory-based research activities, critically reflect on ethical and methodological challenges, and integrate creative practices into coherent research processes.
