DESCRIPTION

This course offers a comprehensive exploration of ecofeminism, a critical framework that examines the interconnected systems of power dominating both women and the Earth. We will trace the history of ecofeminist thought, distinguish between its diverse currents, and engage with its powerful critiques of the prevailing political and economic order. Moving beyond theory, the course emphasizes the practical application of an ecofeminist lens. Students will analyze how these power dynamics manifest in all dimensions of life - from the politics of time and mobility to the gender division of labor. We will investigate concrete ecofeminist public policies and employ action-oriented, decolonial research methodologies, such as feminist ethnography and cuerpo-territorio. The ultimate aim is to equip students with the tools to deconstruct oppressive structures and also to envision and create alternatives.
