Prerequisites: There are no formal prerequisites but students are highly recommended to have an adequate knowledge of economics, a certain familiarity with the history and geography of Europe. Those not familiar with these subjects are expected to read additional materials, recommended by lecturer.

DESCRIPTION

Main topics of the course include:
- Macroeconomic concepts, factors of business environment - an introduction
- Interrelations between national authorities, global financial markets, and international bodies
- Monetary policies, fiscal policies, the regulatory and the entrepreneurial state (privatisation and nationalisation); innovation and investment strategies
- Crises and the practice of crisis management in European countries (case studies)
