CEA CAPA and CIS Abroad Align on Integration, Innovation, and Impact
Italy in November? Yes, please! A couple of weeks ago, CEA CAPA and CIS Abroad brought our Advisory Boards together for the first time - because what better place to talk about the future of global education than in one of the most iconic study abroad destinations?
The goal: meaningful dialogue about integration, shared values, and the opportunities ahead.
The vibe: collaborative, curious, and frequently fueled by espresso.

Exploring Shared Values
Across group visits to Rome, Florence, and La Spezia, the conversations weren’t just about org charts and strategy (though we had plenty of that). They centered on what must unify us as one organization: core values. Among these, curiosity stole the spotlight. Why? Because curiosity is the secret sauce - it’s what makes us pause, ask better questions, and embrace perspectives beyond our own. It’s also what turns a meeting into a movement.

A Schedule with Substance (and Apericena)
The week was thoughtfully structured: leadership welcomes, deep-dive sessions on integration, and small-group discussions that tackled big questions like, what unique problem can we solve in international education that no one else can? And yes, there were excursions - because nothing sparks creativity like wandering through centuries-old streets or discovering the Italian gesture for “scared” (trust us, it’s worth Googling). The goal was to balance strategy with experience, the perfect recipe for on-site immersions.

Curiosity in Action
Beyond the classroom, participants explored local sites, connected with on-site teams, and experienced the programs that make Italy so transformative for students. These weren’t just photo ops - they were impactful examples of the quality of programming and learning that our students experience, and reminders of why global learning matters. Curiosity showed up everywhere: in design-thinking exercises, in candid conversations about private equity (yes, we went there), in free-hand drawing activities, in seeing which fish our colleagues would choose at dinner (reel-y fascinating!), and most importantly in the shared commitment to inclusivity and innovation.

Looking Ahead
The week wrapped with site visits and farewell dinners that were equal parts celebratory and energizing. We left with stronger relationships, clearer priorities, and a renewed sense of purpose. Whatever name or brand emerges, one thing is certain: this new organization is ready to lead boldly - powered by curiosity, collaboration, and inspiration (from you – our partners and students!).
Here’s to What’s Next
Hard questions? Bring them on. Bold ideas? Absolutely. Together, we’re shaping a future where international education isn’t just a program - it’s a catalyst for change. And if that future involves more gelato breaks, we’re more than okay with that.
