Discover Florence Through the Voices of Students Living It

If you’ve ever studied abroad in Italy, chances are you’ve heard the word “allora” tossed around like parmesan on pasta. It’s the Swiss Army knife of Italian conversation - meaning “then,” “so,” or “well…,” depending on the moment. It’s a conversational staple, a linguistic pause button, and now, it’s the name of our new podcast: Allora: The CEA CAPA Florence Podcast, available on Spotify.

Created by Elena Beghello (Coordinator of Program and Student Services) and hosted by Zac Romero Rodriguez (Coordinator of Program and Student Services) and supported by Emily Schiavone, (Center Director) . Allora brings together students, faculty, and staff to share stories, insights, and the occasional travel-related mishaps. Elisa Venticinque, Nora Michelson, Caterina Zita, and Giovanna Di Marzio, plus a rotating cast of student voices, participated and contributed to the episodes of the podcast. Each episode feels like a cozy espresso-fueled chat with friends.

The podcast captures the spirit of study abroad: curious, reflective, and full of surprises in the best possible way. Each episode is a window into life in Florence, from cultural observations to personal growth, all wrapped in candid conversation. The goal of Allora is to foster connection, curiosity, and community, helping students feel at home in Florence while discovering more about the city, their peers, and themselves.  Whether you’re laughing through “Stressed, Messed, But Impressed” or nodding along to “Gurl, You Belong Anywhere,” you’ll find yourself saying, “Allora… I need to hear more.”

Last month’s lineup was especially binge-worthy. From candid conversations about bridging cultural gaps in “No T, no Shade” to reflections on identity and belonging, the podcast doesn’t shy away from real issues. It’s Florence through the eyes of those living it - messy, magical, and full of moments that make you say “allora…” before launching into a story you’ll tell for years.

So, whether you’re prepping for your semester abroad or just missing the cobblestone streets and gelato-fueled afternoons from Italy trips gone by, tune in to Allora on Spotify here. It’s the podcast that proves Florence isn’t just a place - it’s a feeling. And don’t be surprised if, after a couple of episodes, you are saying allora like a local without even realizing it.
