Big Ideas, Bigger Laughs, and a Whole Lot of Flower Crowns
EAIE 2025 has wrapped up in Gothenburg - and wow, what a ride (literally, thanks to the roller coasters). With over 7,000 attendees from 106 countries, four packed days of learning, connecting, dancing, thinking deeply, and laughing often, this year’s conference truly delivered on the promise to GO-create.
People and Purpose
Dr. Martha Johnson and Dr. Lou Berends proudly represented our CEA CAPA colleagues at EAIE 2025, enjoying a meaningful week of connection and collaboration. From hosting a warm gathering with our colleagues, to engaging conversations with our overseas partners, they also had the opportunity to connect with leadership from across the field including EAIE, NAFSA, AIEA, and the Forum (among others). Gaining insights from our European and global peers continues to be essential to our work - and we leave the conference more informed, inspired, and connected than ever.

Speeeed Networking
Things kicked off with a bang (and a few screams) at Liseberg, Sweden’s beloved theme park. Where else can you network at 70 km/h and then hit the dance floor with colleagues you just met in line for cotton candy?

Meanwhile, across town, the President’s Reception brought elegance and inspiration as EAIE President Sara López Selga and Gothenburg’s Lord Mayor Aslan Akbas welcomed delegates.
A Toast to Leadership
A highlight of the week was when IIE’s Dr. Allan Goodman accepted the President’s Award honoring his decades-long impact on the international education community. During his acceptance, he delivered a powerful message on leading with courage and pursuing peace through education.
Midsommar Memories
Midweek, attendees leaned into Swedish tradition with a Midsommar-style evening of flower crowns, folk music, and celebratory snacks. It was a wonderful opportunity to network in the best way possible - with more petals, and fewer PowerPoint slides.

The Three Cs: Choirs, Closing Plenaries, and Cinnamon Buns
The Closing Plenary offered a moment to reflect (and recover), featuring a stunning performance by the EAIE Choir - made up of international educators from around the globe. President Selga returned to announce the new EAIE Doctoral Research Grants, supporting the future stars of academia. Then came the closing keynote: Gothenburg native and digital futurist Andreas Ekström reminded us that shaping the future of tech in education (and the world) is a job for all of us - not just the ones fluent in Python.

From big ideas to bigger cinnamon buns (worth every minute in line), EAIE 2025 gave us the perfect mix of insight, inspiration, and international flair. We came to GO-create, and we’re leaving with fresh ideas, new friendships, and enough flower crown selfies to last us until next year. Huge thanks to EAIE for another week to remember!
Next stop: Glasgow 2026.
Tack så mycket, Gothenburg - you’ve been unforgettable.
